Global stations now seamlessly linked on digital radio and FM across the UK
Digital Radio UK today welcomed Global Radio’s announcement that their major UK network stations, Capital, Heart and Smooth, have now implemented service following. From a driver’s perspective, this means that radio listeners will seamlessly pick up the same station on DAB and FM as they drive around the country. This functionality is made possible by the work done by Global and Arqiva but also by the introduction of the Digital Tick Mark Specification for car radios and adapters in the UK. Car radios and adapters that are approved by Digital Radio UK to use the Digital Tick Mark Specification have service following capability. This launch follows a Service Following Trial earlier this year managed by Digital Radio UK, Global and Arqiva.
Ford Ennals, CEO at Digital Radio UK, said:
“This is good news for drivers who will now be able to stay listening to their favourite Global station wherever they are in the UK and whether they tune in on DAB or FM. This wouldn’t have been possible without the great support of the vehicle manufacturers and of course Global and Arqiva.”
