Boat Radio to launch in July

Folkestone Fringe arts group will be broadcasting a Pop Up digital radio station transmitting sound works between land and sea along the Kent and Sussex coast in July.

Boat Radio has secured an OFCOM licence to transmit to and from The Boat Project, a wooden vessel built using donated items commissioned for the London 2012 festival.

The Boat "Collective Spirit" sailed from Emsworth Marina, Sussex in May and ends at Weymouth in August in time for Olympic sailing events. Folkestone Fringe is taking the opportunity to cross the space between land and sea and engage the vessel in a transmitted conversation.

Broadcasting from 1 - 22 July, millions of people in Hampshire, Sussex, Kent and Essex can tune into Boat Radio in their homes, cars and offices.
