BBC boost digital radio coverage

The BBC has announced the launch of two more national DAB transmitters:

Knott Farm
Providing coverage to a long length of road on the M6 around Tebay in Cumbria. DAB is now available for the very first time in that area and starts the job of linking the M6 coverage in England to the coverage in south-west Scotland.

Shaftesbury
Providing coverage for around 33,500 people in north Dorset and improving service for a further 80,000.

This now completes the BBC's Phase 3 roll-out which has seen 117 transmitter stations built over the last three years and increased coverage from 85% to around 93%. Their plan is to build out national coverage to 97% by a target date of end 2015.
