Absolute Radio to launch Absolute Radio 00s
Absolute Radio is launching Absolute Radio 00s (noughties) - a brand new digital station for London dedicated to the best music from the last decade. The station is the latest addition to a successful network of content & decade brands: Absolute Radio 80s, Absolute Radio 90s, Absolute Radio Classic Rock & Absolute Radio extra.
Absolute Radio 00s will offer listeners a blend of the biggest-selling guitar bands around such as Coldplay, the Killers, Muse and Kings of Leon alongside credible 00s crossover acts including Outkast, Black Eyed Peas and Eminem.
The station will launch at 10am on the 10th December on the Absolute Radio Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show. Vicki Blight will take over the airwaves from 11 - 2pm, Lucio will be on air from 2pm - 5pm while evenings will be home to non-stop 00s music.
The station will also launch with a series of five thirty minute ‘specials' during the launch week of the 10th December at 5pm each day including feature interviews from the One Golden Square archives and live tracks. The series will include My Chemical Romance, Kings of Leon, Lily Allen, Linkin Park and The Killers.
Furthermore, Absolute Radio 00s will also be featuring an exclusive documentary by Mike Smith, Musical Director of the Gorillaz, one of the biggest acts & music brands of the noughties, documenting life on the road with the band.
In addition, Absolute Radio 90s which has been broadcasting nationally on the D1 multiplex as a trial will also be staying as a national service following over-whelming positive feedback from listeners, coupled with an excellent first RAJAR.
Absolute Radio 00s will initially be available on DAB digital radio in London, on mobile via smartphone apps and online at www.absoluteradio00s.co.uk.
